Saturdays game away to Priory Celtic was going to be a tough challenge playing in such windy conditions but like I said to the team before we started both teams play with and against the wind.
We started the game kicking into the wind but was very quick off the mark and Ben scored within the first five minutes to give us the perfect start but a good passing move from Priory Celtic and a bit of poor defending saw the home team pull it back to 1-1.
Big kicks from the Priory Celtic keeper was causing us a few problems but the our strong midfield was up to the task and our passing was very good on the 3G pitch. Its was from another good passing attack that saw us win a corner and when Ben put a low ball into the box Tom was at the near post to side foot the ball into the net to make it 2-1.
The last five minutes of the first half saw Priory Celtic score twice, the first from a big ball forward that the wind caught and bounced over keeper Ashton to make it 2-2. The second was from a free kick that the Priory Celtic keeper took. A low ball driven into the box pinged around the box, hit a few people and ended up in the net to make it 3-2 to Priory Celtic.
The second half was one way traffic with our keeper Ashton only kicking the ball once. The lads worked hard and was in total charge of the game but chance after chance went by. It was from another corner when Max forced the keeper into a good save but Ethan was at the back post to put it in and make it 3-3 with ten minutes left to play.
Billy, Corey, Ben, and Tom all had a chance but they put wide or the keeper made the save.
With just two minutes left Ronnie hit the ball from just outside the box that went in off the post and we was 4-3 up and it was well deserved.
It finished 4-3 for us to claim our 10th win in a row but what was more pleasing for me today was how the lads worked hard for each and never let there heads drop, not even at 3-2 down. In a game where three or four players could if taken the man of the match the Priory Celtic manager picked Ben.
This was a great win for us today and to win ten in a row at any level of football is no easy task, the coaching staff and Im sure the parents are over the moon on how much the lads have come on since last November.
