Hi New Coaches

Hi New coaches,

Although this probably seems a little daunting, the reward of creating the right environment for children to play outweighs any concerns you might have right now.

Will I make mistakes? Probably yes, but embrace them as a learning process to better understand what caused the mistakes.

What if the children don’t like me? Children like anyone that interacts with them, ask them how their day was at school, ask them what they learned today. Show an interest and you’ll have players for life.

Once you’ve started the process with our welfare officer to have your DBS check, we can start the journey into coaching.

We would like the safeguarding, first aid, and playmaker courses completed within 1 month of starting your coaching journey and the Introduction to Coaching Football completed within 3 months (the course is online but you have to book in on a Webinar to complete the course which is often busy)

Some years ago the club made the decision to remove the concern about collecting monthly player subscriptions by introducing a Standing Order system, these payments are continuous whilst the player is signed for the club. By paying over 12 months we keep the monthly payment down and ensure we have a flow of income, current costings are as follows.

A player playing and training with one team £23 per month

A player playing with two teams and training with one £33 per month

All the courses you will need are on this FA’s website.

Courses | England Football Learning

Firstly you’ll need to complete the Safeguarding for children course. This is renewable every 3 years.

Safeguarding Children Course | England Football Learning

The cost of this course is £30 and paid for by the club.

What we would like is for you to book the course then send our club treasurer the booking confirmation for him to reimburse the cost of the course.

The course is an online course and you can dip in and out when you have the time. The overall length of the course is roughly 2 hours.

The next course is First Aid.

Introduction to First Aid in Football | England Football Learning

Again another £30 course that the club will cover the costs.

The same applies to funding and reimbursement.

The 3rd course is the FA’s Playmaker course.

EE Playmaker | England Football Learning

This is a free 4-5 hour course. As before you won’t have to sit this in one session, the course will save your progress.

This is a pre requisite course before you can apply for your introduction to coaching football course.

Introduction to Coaching Football | England Football Learning

This course is a 4 week course at a cost of £100 we would like this course to be started within 12-16 weeks of completing the playmaker course.

This course again will be covered by the club as it’s a requirement that all our coaches are level 1 qualified to enable us our accreditation status

UEFA C Coaching Badge

To encourage coaches to improve we offer the opportunity for coaches to take the UEFA C coaching badge (formerly L2)

Due to the high cost of this certificate, currently £620, we will part fund the course but would ask coaches to apply for the annual coaching funding support program via the FA, applications for the following season close in March, for example, funding requests for 2025/26 season need to be in by March 14th 2025. The balance assuming funding is sourced would be refunded to the coach based over 2 years paid out on completion of the course, one year after and two years after.

The club offer a wealth of knowledge and experience amongst our coaches and we have numerous WhatsApp chat groups for questions and answers.
