GEDLING SOUTHBANK U11 v DUNKIRK COLTS U11
On Saturday 1st March, GSB U11’s played Dunkirk Colts U11’s at “home”, which for the day was Brooklyn Road in Bulwell as Cartlon-Le-Willows was unavailable and Dunkirk very kindly offered this pitch.
Dunkirk Colts have struggled in the league so far this season having lost all 4 games and conceded 25 goals. Unfortunately for them they also were a player short in this game which was always going to make the game difficult for them.
GSB started very well and created numerous chances in the opening ten minutes but only managed to find the back of the net once through Elliott ‘Els’ Hay who followed up his own shot and put away the rebound.
GSB kept piling forwards and got another about 15 minutes into the game when Drew ‘Chappers’ Chapman got past his defender and floated a cross into the box. However with the aid of a little bit of a miskick the ball floated over the top of the goalkeepers head to give GSB a 2-0 lead.
3 minutes later and Chappers did it again. This time however he meant to put it over the top of the keeper and Carter ‘Pates’ Pateman closely watched the ball cross the line.
A couple of minutes later and Jacob ‘JB’ Burley got his name on the scoresheet. Pates controlled the ball very well, turned his defender and hit a great shot which the keeper saved but JB poked home.
Pates was next to add his name to the list after a great break from the back by Haydn ‘H’ McCaughey and after a few great exchanges with Chappers, Pates got the ball in the box and calmly put the ball into the back of the net.
Just before half time, Chappers got his name on the scoresheet again to claim his first ever hat trick.

GSB were soon adding to the score through James ‘Abs’ Abbott who finished very well to make it 7-0.
Ben ‘Mozza’ Morris got on the scoresheet too after a flick into the middle from JB to make it 8-0.
Dunkirk then pulled a goal back after GSB were caught out with too many players attacking, desperate to add their name onto the scoresheet.
Abs quickly added a couple more to claim his first ever hat trick and make the score 10-1.
Next up was JB who slid into to poke home a Chappers through ball and make the score 11-1.
Billy Housden added to the score next after a cross from Chappers.
Just before the final whistle Chappers played another through ball for JB to claimed his 3rd and GSB’s 13th goal of the game.

Man of the Match: McKensie ‘Macca Pacca’ Withers, out goalkeeper, chose the man of the match and decided on Malachi ‘Ky’ Gregg who was celebrating his birthday.
Despite the score line, Dunkirk never gave up and continued trying right till the end.
Next up for the team is Calverton, who dumped the boys out of the cup in December.
