On the 8th of March we play our second league game at west park against West Bridgford Arrows
We started slow for the first five minutes but after a few words from the coaching staff the boys stepped up a few gear and started to take the game to the Arrows.
The game was heating up nice and after a good passing attack we forced a corner. From the corner the ball came out to Billy, he controlled the ball, took it into the box and from a good shot he found the bottom corner of the goal to make it 1-0
At the half time team talk I asked only one thing, keep playing the way we are and goals will come.
It took only five minutes from yet another corner for Billy to score again from just outside the box. From then on it was all GSB with Ethan coming close but the Arrows keeper made a great save.
Ben worked hard to get the 3rd for us and now there was only going to be one winner today. Ronnie made a great run down the wing and when it looked like he was going to pass for once he stepped over the ball and went round the last defender to make it 4-0
The second half saw the Arrows make very little in the way chancers but when for the first time in the match they had beat Liam and Billy but Ashton came out to make a good save that saw the ball hit the post and when the ball came out the Arrows striker could only hit the cross bar
With ten minutes left and 4-0 up we won a penalty form a hand ball. Billy was looking to take it and get his 3rd but Id promised the next penalty to Liam.
Liam had not put a foot wrong all game, Liam had not put a foot wrong all season, Liam the boy or was managers player last season, Liam who had never scored, Liam Mr Southbank himself stepped up……..HE MISSED
The game finished 4-0 to GSB and Liam was voted man of the match
