Saturdays game against Breaston Park was the first home game in five weeks so I wasn’t looking forward to putting the nets up.
A win today would make us league champions with one game still to play. We started the game and from the first minute we looked ready to take the game to Breaston.
Attacking runs from Luca and Ronnie down the wings put Breaston under pressure but we didn’t have that cutting edge up front to give us the lead. As the first half went on Breaston stepped up a gear and the first good chances of the half was saved well from Ashton.
We looked in control most of the half but the goal didn’t come so both teams went in at half time at 0-0.
The half time team talk was all about keeping the pressure on and passing the ball around more.
The second half started in the same way the fist half ended with Gedling Southbank looking like the team who would open the scoring.
Breaston had very little in the way of chances and when they did Liam and Billy who have been fantastic all season stopped the move.
With just ten minutes left Ethan who had worked hard today pinched the ball off the Breaston defender on the edge of the box and when he put the ball across to Tom just outside the box Tom hit it well and it came off the post to find the net and we had the goal I was starting to think wouldn’t come.
It was only five minutes after Tom got the second with some good work from Ronnie getting to the ball from the goal keepers save, he turned the ball back into the box and Tom was in the right place to make it 2-0
The game finshed 2-0 and we had won the league for the second time this season. Tom was voted man of the match with Ethan coming a very close second.
This season all the lads have worked so hard and became a team who have great passion, team spirit and have a great friendship that’s getting stronger and stronger each week.
Well done Ashton, Liam, Billy, Tom, Corey, Luca, Ronnie, Max, Josh, Ethan and Ben.
