Our third game in eight days saw us at home again against Radcliffe Olympic Red
I saw Radcliffe play and beat the wanderers 2-1 in a very close game in the pre-season so I knew it was going to be another close game.
Today we welcomed our new player Sam, he didn’t start but came on half way through the first half and put in a very good shift.
The first half was a very hard fought battle in the midfield with only a few chancs at each end. Radcliffe had the best chance when they turned defense in to attack. They made two good passes that put there striker one on one with our keeper but Ashton was off his line like a bullet out of a gun and made a great save. We only put in two long range shots but still looked like we could step up a gear or two.
Half time 0-0
The second half saw Max drop from midfield into a defending role, a role where he fits in and happy to play in…….some times lol
We made more chances after the break with Ethan and Ben looking better. A number of corners saw us put on pressure but we just couldn’t find the goal and with Ashton making another good save from a counter attack I knew this game could go either way
It was just seconds before our goal that the Radcliffe manger said to me……you don’t see many 0-0 at this age do you. With only five minutes to play Tom put in a sand wedge type cross that came down with snow on it, and when the ball came down the keeper miss timed the bounce and it went over is head and Ronnie was just in the right place to finish and make it 1-0
The boys had to defend one more attack but that was it. Full time 1-0. Max was given man of the match and the boys had put in yet another good team performance
Well done boys
