National FA Charter Standard Community Club of the Year Winners

Written by Adrian Hall

Gedling Southbank FC have been awarded the highest award available to Grass Roots Football Clubs in England the National FA Charter Standard Community Club of the Year Award. The last seven weeks have been one achievement after another, on the 10th May we attended on a very wet Tuesday evening the Nottinghamshire Awards at Mansfield Town FC, we came away as winners of the Community Club award and were all very proud of all involved with the club. Roll the clock forward to Thursday the 16th June and a phone call from the Notts FA to announce we were now winners of the same award but for the East Midlands, wow this was getting serious, a magnificent achievement and what recognition for everyone at the club. Roll the clock forward to Thursday 30th of June and I receive a phone call from the FA in London, first thought, now what has happened, great news I am told we have won the National Award. Once it had sunk in I thought on reflection that I should not have been so surprised, I think we have the best coaches and volunteers who are so dedicated andĀ driven to givingĀ all the players involved with the club the best opportunity to play football, I think the National FA agree with me.

Well done everyone and photo’s of the presentation will follow.
