PRIORY CELTIC U10 GREEN v GSB U10 RED
So for the third game in five, we travelled to Kimberley Leisure Centre to play Priory Celtic U10 Green. The previous game had ended in a penalty shoot out and the one before that ended with GSB winning 2-1, so it was always going to be a fairly close game.
GSB seemed to want to make a statement early in this game and took the lead in the second minute through Chappers, who hit a rocket of a shot from just inside the penalty area.
Just over 2 minutes later, after a great little ball by Corky, Pates put the ball round the PC keeper to make it 2-0 to GSB after only 4 minutes.
Just 2 minutes later, Chappers danced down the left wing and fired a cross into the area. Pates, who is by far the smallest player in the team, got his head onto the cross and planted a header into the back of the net to give GSB a 3-0 lead within the first 7 minutes.
Both teams continued to play good football and half time arrived with GSB still leading 3-0.
The second half saw a change of formation for GSB allowing Billy & Corky to play in the centre of midfield together leaving just one defender at the back.
The two central midfielders took total control of the game and kept PC at bay on many occasions and started so many attacks.
After 5 minutes of the second half, Chappers got the ball on the left and played a through ball to Mozza, who skipped into the box and placed the ball past the keeper to make it 4-0 to GSB and give Mozza his 3rd goal in 3 games.
PC did manage to pull a goal back a few minutes later after a good tackle from one of their midfielders robbed Chappers and he then set up their striker to place the ball in the back of the net.
Two minutes later and GSB restored their 4 goal advantage when James Abbott got the ball on the edge of the box and rifled a shot into the back of the net.
Time and time again, GSB through Billy & Corky won the ball in midfield but failed to take any more chances.
Final Score: Priory Celtic 1 GSB 5
Man of the Match: Billy Housden. A very close call today between Billy, Corky, Mozza, Pates and Chappers who all played very weel. However Billy just got the nod, due to his mature display in the centre where he is learning not to just follow the ball and covered every area when needed. Well done Billy, keep it up.
