St George’s Park – What an experience

Written by Adam Chapman

On Sunday 5th May, Gedling Southbank U10 Red Team went on the Future of the Game experience at St George’s Park, the new training head quarters for the Football Association.

The experience included the use of a dressing room, a tour of the facilities, a two hour coaching session followed by lunch.

As a team we have been fortunate enough to obtain sponsorship for a new kit from The Nottingham Label Company Limited and the kit arrived on Friday, just in time for our visit. So the new kit was set out in the changing rooms before the boys arrived for their day out.

After a brief tour of the fantastic facilities, the boys started their two hour fun filled training session led by Mark Hanning, our coach for the day. Mark currently coaches Swindon Town U11 Academy Team and provided some excellent sessions for the boys all based around Developing Forward Passing. The boys certainly learnt from today’s sessions.

After the session had finished we had lunch in the Dug Out at St George’s Park before making our way home.

What a fantastic experience this was for all the boys involved, who got to use the facilities professional footballers use on a weekly basis as well as some excellent coaching.

So they now take all this learning into their semi final match against Arnold Town next Saturday at CLW.
