To say we had 20+ scoring opportunities today is no understatement, we all witnessed the best goal keeping display possible from our opposition number 1. We again started strongly and had a couple of early chances but we had no idea of what this game would bring. We scored the first goal and were very comfortable, however giving the weather conditions we couldn’t rest on our laurels, and this proved our undoing when Welbeck had their first shot which caught the strong wind and went straight over our keeper into the back of the net. More chances came and went via the reflexes of their goalkeeper, and somehow the game was 1-1 at half time, however credit to our opponents as they were providing us with a decent test.
After so many chances going without scoring we could have been forgiven for getting frustrated but the girls kept up the pressure and we scored 3 goals in quick succession, Welbeck continued to push us back and were rewarded with a 2nd goal following an excellent save from our keeper. The game was fast paced and a great advert for the female game, the away keeper continued to keep us out with superb saves from her hands and feet. We managed to put another in the net before the final whistle.
Some fantastic build up play in todays 5-2 win in very difficult conditions and against such a decent team with a superb keeper. So its 6 wins on the bounce with a great performance to cap of a great result.
