March 21st saw us take part in our second two mini games day.
The first game was against Hucknall Sports Black, a team who we haven’t played before. From the very first second the boys looked ready for today and it took only two minutes for some good link up play to give Ronnie a chance to run towards goal and take a shot and it made no mistakes and found the back of the net.
We had total control of the game with good runs down both wings from Josh and Luca. It was only deserved when Ronnie made it 2-0 just before half time.
Within seconds of the restart Ronnie should of got his hat trick but fired straight at the Hucknall goal keeper. Sam, Ben and Luca all had a pop at goal but the 3rd didn’t come. Hucknall stepped up a gear and started to ask questions of Corey and Liam. Hucknall won a corner and from a good cross one of the Hucknall players smashed it in to the back of the net.
This game Hucknall alot of confidence and from a game we should of sealed we spent the last five minutes hanging on. The lads held out to get the 2-1 win.
The next game was against Bilborough how had beat Hucknall 2-0 in the first game of the day.
The first half was a very even matched game with both teams working hard. It was a midfield battle that neither team could get the upper hand.
The second half saw us come out looking a little stronger. Sam was making good attacking runs and when Ronnie was fouled 20 yards out it gave Tom a chance from the free kick. Tom hit the ball well and it smashed against the top of the cross bar. The Bilborough keeper made two very good saves during the second half but his best was to come in the last few seconds. A ball from Max at the back went straight to Ronnie, he turned the last man on the edge of the box but before he knew it the keeper was off the line to make the save at Ronnie’s feet.
The game finished 0-0 giving us four points on the day. It sets it all up for the last two games knowing that a win against St. Anns would make us league winners.
All the lads performance today was something to be proud of and come next weekend I hope the lads get what they deserve………well done boys
