WEST BRIDGFORD TORNADOES U10 v GSB U10 RED
Today saw GSB U10 Red team travel to West Park to take on West Bridgford Tornadoes, buoyed by their great performance in the cup last week.
Kieran ‘KP Nuts’ Parrott and Ashton ‘Ash’ Graham were the management duo for the week and had obviously taken plenty of time over team selection. The boys seem to be loving having the responsibility for selecting the team.
The game did not start that well for the management duo as GSB fell behind after 8 minutes and then conceded again 5 minutes later to be 2-0 down half way through the half. Just before half time, West Bridgford Tornadoes scored an excellent goal with their midfielder running from within his own half, beating 3 GSB players and calmly finishing into the bottom corner.

The boys were understandably upset at half time and many had resigned themselves to defeat already. However as I reminded them they had not lost away from home since March 17th 2012, so nearly 12 months ago. All I asked of them was to go out and win the second half.
The boys certainly responded in the right way. They pulled a goal back after 4 minutes when Jake Burley made a great run and his cross was put into his own goal by a WB defender.
2 minutes later and GSB were pulling themselves back into this game when once again Drew ‘Chappers’ Chapman fired a shot towards goal which was saved by the keeper but it hit a WB defender and went into the goal.
The management duo made further changes half way through the half and GSB pulled another goal back when once again a WB defender was unfortunate enough to put the ball into the back of his own net after a great effort by Ben ‘Mozza’ Morris. GSB had clawed their way back into this game.
However WB Tornadoes got their noses in front again when GSB lost the ball in the middle of the pitch and once again a WB player burst through the middle and scored.
3 minutes later and GSB had done the unthinkable again and got themselves level once more. This time it was a GSB player who scored and it was Mozza who got onto to end of a through ball and put the ball into the back of the net.
However GSB did not stay in the game for long and conceded again very soon after to be 5-4 down. A game of formation saw GSB go with one at the back to try and get back into the game. Unfortunately they conceded once more to be 6-4 down.
GSB then pulled a goal back with what was the last kick of the game and Mozza scored once more but it was just a little bit too late.

Man of the Match: Jake Burley. After joining us from Burton Joyce just before Xmas, Jake is improving with every game and is starting to fit in with this team very well. Well played Jake.
So GSB U10 Red team suffer their first away defeat in a year but very nearly managed to get back into the game and did win the second half 5-3, which is all I asked of them at half time.
