Last weekends game saw us change from a Saturday to a Sunday morning to stop yet another week without football. This was out first game in six weeks due to the Christmas break and games being called off due to the weather.
Sundays games was against Bilborough FC, a team who we have never played before so the coaching staff was a bit unsure about today on top of the fact we had such a long break and we have been slow starts in the past after breaks.
It was going to be hard work toady because of the boggy pitch, this made it hard to play the passing football style that we have been playing in the past few weeks.
It took just five minutes for Tom, Ben and Max to play a good passing move down the left hand side that saw Max beat the keeper from just inside the box to make it 1-0
The rest of the first half saw GSB push and push forcing the Bilborough keeper into four good saves but then just before half time Bilborough had there first attack and scored1-1 at half time.
The half time team talk was easy…….keep playing how you are and the goals will come.
Still at 1-1 after ten minutes played Bilborough went clean though on goal but our keeper Ashton rushed off his line to make a great diving tackle. I think this must of woke the lads up because within two minutes Ben made a great run down the right hand side and when he crossed it in Ronnie put it away to make it 2-1.
From then on it was all one way that saw Luca and Ben both score good goals from just out side the box.
It was only because of the Bilborough keeper we didn’t score more, he made three great saves in the last ten minutes. Bilborough pulled one back in the last minute and the game finished 4-2 to GSB.
Ronnie was voted man of the match in another good team performance that took us to seven wins in a row.
