On a very cold morning we welcomed St. Anns & Sneinton to Arnold Mill for the first time. When warming up before the game you could tell that St. Anns & Sneinton had a few strong players and todays game wasnt going to be easy.
We kicked off and within a minute Ronnie was chopped down in the box that made it very easy for the Ref to point to the spot. Ben stepped up and smashed it in off the cross bar. (At half time he told me he ment to do that lol)
For the next ten minutes we looked like scoring again. Ben, Luca and Ronnie all coming close. We didnt take our chances and St. Anns & Sneinton stepped up a gear, Ashton yet again pulled off a few great saves but when he palmed another save away our defenders did not act fast enough and St. Anns & Sneinton scored just before half time to make it 1-1
Stevo and I knew that we had to tell the lads to wake up, after a good start they fell to sleep a little and from the half time team talk they came out fired up.
The next goal would be very important and it came our way or did it?? A shot from Ronnie saw the keeper make a save at first but the ball ran away from him and he stopped it on or over the line, I dont know but the Ref gave the goal 2-1.
Corey came on to hold the midfield together and from then we looked stronger. A perfect pass from Billy put Ben one on one with the keeper and he made no mistake from eight yards out 3-1
St. Anns & Sneinton didnt give up and pushed and pushed, this resulting in a corner. From the corner when Max jumping to clear the ball he put it into the top corner 3-2, with ten minutes left it was going to be a game too close to call.
St. Anns & Sneinton had one key player, number 15, but when Billy made a strong but well timed tackle to win the ball he finished the number 15 for the rest of the game.
With just a few minutes left Corey, Tom and Ben linked up well and Ben scored his 3rd of the day, it finished 4-2.
I would like to say a massive well done to the boys over the last four games. The passing, talking, decision making and team spirit have been fantastic, four wins from four means we are the league winner with a game to spare.
