The last weekend in January saw us travel to Attenborough to play a team who were looking for there 3rd win in a row so we knew we had to be ready for them today.
Corey started the game and the coaching Staff asked him to play the holding midfield role to take control of the middle and stop Attenborough breaking and he did a great job. The first sixteen minutes saw both team play good passing football and make chances but with no luck, Attenborough came very close hitting the cross bar from a corner kick.
At this point we put Ben, Ronnie and Josh on and within five minutes Josh played a great ball into the path of Ben and he opened the scoring with a powerful shot that beat the keeper to make it 1-0.
This rocked Attenborough and three minutes later Ronnie made it 2-0. It was still end to end football and Ashton had to make a good save just before half time to keep our 2-0 advantage.
The second half we put Luca at the back and he showed us that he’s a very versatile player because he did a fantastic job. It took just seven minutes in the second half for Ben to get is second of the day and at 3-0 it was game over for Attenborough.
Attenborough heads did not drop and they kept on attacking but Billy, Liam and Luca stopped any chance of them getting a goal. Yet again today the passing was very good, the tackles well times and the team work rate high.
Yet another attacking move Ronnie was chopped down and when Billy forced the keeper to make a save from the free kick Ronnie was at hand on the back post to tap in the 4th.
It finished 4-0 with Corey taking the man of the match.
One of the best things about coaching any team is seeing things you work on in training come into play on the pitch and this is very much the case with Gedling Southbank Utd under 9s
