Following our 1-3 home Plate semi final defeat to St Francis Mackworth last week, the girls wanted to bounce back today at Carlton Le Willows and they did just that.
We hosted a very good team in Nuthall and knew we had to play well in order to get a result today.
With our goalkeeper away it was left up to Charlotte and Kieralou to share the no 1 position today and they did brilliantly
We went into a first half lead thanks to Beth’s continued pressure on our opponents defence, she was so unlucky with half a dozen chances throughout the game, but like other games this season we just couldn’t get that killer 2nd goal, we controlled the 2nd half and didn’t deserve to concede in the last 5 minutes, however we put in a great performance and that’s football for you.
It does mean we are guaranteed to finish runner up at least with the last game away at Derby County who we lead by 4 points but they have 2 games in hand.
