When you are top of the League, everyone wants to beat you and each game presents its own unique challenges.
Today V Sherwood proved no different and what a game it was, two excellent squads played their part in a very entertaining game. Sherwood have some very strong players and matched us in every department in the first half, in fact although we had plenty of chances, the best clear cut chance fell to them and they nearly took the lead near the end of the first 30 minutes but were thwarted by a brilliant stop and recovery by Ursula in the GSB goal. We were certainly in a game when the whistle blew.

The team talk was all about the positives and how well we were playing as a team and the plan was to go out and test their keeper a bit more. The 2nd half continued like the first and each team cancelled each other out until after 40 minutes we made the breakthrough when Lauren tapped home at the far post following a save after good work from Gizzy. I felt one goal was going to win this as it was so tight, Sherwood kept pushing us back but a fast break and Gizzy made it 2-0. Not long after it was 3-0 as a fine individual run by Beth created a gap in the opposition half and she dispatched it into the net to show her dad (Nathan Tyson) how is done lol!!!
The final action of the half saw Sherwood with a corner, from this a fantastic volley Brazilian style narrowly went over the bar to end a fantastic game.
Final Score 3-0 GSB which was an unfair reflection on the contribution our opponents made to the game.
Win number 8 out of 8 but the performance was the best yet
