U14s traveled to Kimberley MW for an afternoon kick off in beautiful sunshine and the game was of decent quality from the off, we have a big squad of 16 players for 9 a side however we had 13 today and everyone got at least 40 minutes play. We went 1 up when a great corner by Lauren was met on the half volley by Fern and dispatched into the net, we were well on top but couldn’t break down our very talented opposition who lost a player to injury in the first half. Talia and Beth made their keeper work hard. Half time came and the team talk was about possession football, no panic, pass the ball, simple and it worked, we started very well but were kept out by again by outstanding goalkeeping display by our opposite keeper who kept Beth out on many occasions, but eventual Beth became provider and set up Becks for 2-0. We tried to add to this and went close with Beth hitting the crossbar, Ali forcing a save and Ella, Jessie and Lauren went close too. Their keepers long kicks caused us problems throughout and we continued to let the ball bounce instead of attack it, and this led to a mix up in defence and a goal for our hosts. With 6 minutes to go we continued to pass the ball and Ali combined with Becks who puts the game to bed. Great debuts for girl of the game Yaz, 2 goals Becks and defender Libby, thanks to Charlotte who although injured played most of the game in goal rather than on the right win. The Green twins, Ella and Jessie combined very well today and showed some great skill throughout. Defence of Kiera/Erin/Talia/Libby solid throughout, hopefully not forgot anyone.
Result was nice but football on display by both teams even better, well done to all
